to Help Make Your Son's Year in Israel Less Worrisome

 

Hi. Below you will find our suggestions as to what to pack for your son's year abroad.

Bedding

warm blanket (down was great)

sheets

pillow cases

(Linens, pillows and blankets are available at the yeshiva for a deposit. But your children may want to have theirs from home!)

sleeping bag for warmth and tiyulim

egg crate foam padding for mattresses – making them feel more like beds back home

 

Outerwear:

winter jacket

sweat shirts

light jackets

lined slicker

fleece jackets

hat

gloves

 

Everyday clothes:

colored shirts (either 3 buttons or all buttons)

docker type of pants

shorts and T-shirts for warmer days

socks

sneakers

sandals

waterproof sandals for shower

sweatshirts (it gets cold at Gush!)

extra tzitzit

 

Shabbos clothes:

navy dockers

white shirts (there is a dry cleaning service available)

sweaters for the chilly winter

nicer shoes but not necessarily real "shabbos" shoes

We sent a couple of gifts that were easy to pack for the first few meals the boys were invited out. The makolet has boxes of candy that can also be used.

* Send them with a credit card. There is an ATM in Alon Shvut so they can withdraw cash in the yishuv. Call the credit card company before they go, and tell them it will be used in Israel or they might not let it go through.
